“Compared to the potential, this number is still modest, so we need to study and do better, because the two countries inherently have complementary economies,” the Prime Minister said.

He affirmed that the Governments of the two countries create all conditions for businesses from both sides to cooperate and develop, focusing on traditional growth drivers such as investment, export, and consumption.

“Vietnam has a market of more than 100 million people, so consumption is developing well, many Australian products are popular with Vietnamese people. Therefore, we need to promote complementarity with each other’s products,” said the Government leader. Vietnam suggests.

Sharing about development orientation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is focusing on implementing three strategic breakthroughs in infrastructure, human resources and institutions.

In particular, the Prime Minister said that Australia is a developed country and a pioneer country, so it can support Vietnam in building institutions and training to create breakthroughs in human resources.

In the spirit of harmonious benefits and shared risks, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that Vietnam will ensure the legitimate rights and interests of Australian investors in particular and of foreign investors investing in Vietnam in general in the direction “If there are any problems, they will be resolved immediately”.

Vietnamese Government leaders expect the relationship between the two countries to become increasingly better and deeper, contributing to making the two countries grow stronger and more prosperous.

Speaking earlier, Australian Trade Minister Tim Ayres said that economic relations between the two countries have developed continuously in recent years, and the goal of both sides is to become Australia’s 10th largest trading partner. together.

Although affirming that many cooperative relationships have been established, Mr. Tim Ayres believes that there are still many things that Vietnam and Australia can do to continue promoting cooperation.

In Melbourne, Mr. Tim Ayres said that the newly established Australia-Vietnam Policy Research Institute could be a center to facilitate and help the cooperative relationship between the two countries. And RMIT can be an educational connection center between Australia and Vietnam.

Victoria State Premier Jacinta Allan informed that there are currently more than 120,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Melbourne. “This is where the largest and most colorful Vietnamese community is located,” according to Ms. Jacinta Allan.

Ms. Jacinta Allan said that she is looking for another development path to promote bilateral investment between Vietnam and Australia, and this will become more convenient when there is a direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City – Melbourne and vice versa.
