Bangladesh Police Sporting Club snatched a point from the champion Mariners in a thrilling match of 10 goals. They lost the next match against Abahani after a great fight. Wednesday fought similarly against Mohammedan.
The police could not stop white blacks like Abahani. But it left Mohammedan sweating. The former champions are on a winning streak after beating Police 4-3.
Malaysian Faizal bin Sari scored two goals to win the Premier Division Hockey League at the Maulana Bhasani Stadium. Besides, Deen Islam Imon and Ashraful Alam scored one goal each.
Abdul Malek, Nahid Labu and India’s Gurjit Singh scored for Police SC. Mohammedan collected 19 points in 7 games with 6 wins and 1 draw. On the other hand, at the end of 9 matches, 4 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses, the police collected 14 points.
In the first quarter, Emon, Sari, Ashraful gave the white-blacks a 3-goal lead. Bangladesh Police SC, the surprise team of this season, turned around in the second quarter. Police’s Gurjit Singh reduced the gap with a goal from the penalty corner in the 18th minute. In the next minute, Malek’s great field goal narrowed the gap to 3-2.
Mohammedan extended the lead to 4-2 in the first minute of the third quarter on a field goal by Ofizal Sari. In the 44th minute, Nahid Labur’s field goal reduced the gap.
