The Corporation Cherif Phosphate Foundation experienced exceptional transformations last year, as it launched a series of initiatives and projects that brought about radical changes in its areas of activity, based on a comprehensive approach and a future vision in implementing its various programs, which aimed to accelerate major social and economic changes across Morocco and beyond.

The year 2023 witnessed the institution consolidating its commitment to educational excellence, in close cooperation with the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), as the past period witnessed the launch of new training programs, especially in the fields of renewable energy and water treatment, with the aim of qualifying young talents to face the challenges of the future. In addition, the Foundation supported 245 educational projects, representing 86,279 beneficiaries, including 49 percent of women, which reflects its deep commitment to comprehensive education and diversity.

The Foundation’s activities report revealed tangible efforts in the field of community development, especially through the “Social Innovation Laboratory,” which encouraged innovative social initiatives, with a special focus on strengthening local capabilities, while providing support to village cooperatives, with 8 cooperatives honored in the edition. The fourth national award for the best ideas for women’s cooperation projects, “Lalla Al Mutawanafa”.

Community empowerment

The OCP Foundation has taken important steps to promote inclusivity and equity, with a particular focus on women, who made up 45 percent of the 109,635 beneficiaries last year; These efforts supported specific programs aimed at enhancing the economic and social independence of women in various sectors.

In cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, the Holy Complex of Phosphate Foundation implemented an innovative project in 60 educational institutions, mainly located in rural areas. This program included the renovation of 29 schools, with activation and support from SAP+D of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, which led to strengthening the infrastructure to provide an ideal educational environment.

120 teachers and principals were formed in the same project, which constituted an ideal platform for these professors to develop vital skills for planning and evaluating educational initiatives, while the Social Innovation Laboratory contributed by conducting studies on the echoes of previous experiences, and providing valuable data to measure the impact of the measures taken, And adjust strategies based on the results achieved.

Integration support

2023 was a decisive year for the OCP Foundation, as it achieved tangible progress in all areas of its work. It has dedicated its ongoing commitment to sustainable development, social justice and innovation, with an orientation towards the future. It also continued to play a crucial role in supporting the social and economic development system, at the local and international levels.

The foundation itself was committed to facilitating access to education and professional integration for people in vulnerable situations, supporting 16 associations across Morocco, helping more than 5,000 individuals. These efforts included specific support for 98 children with trisomy, approximately half of whom were integrated into traditional educational systems. While this work also extended to 58 young people suffering from mental disabilities, by facilitating their integration into educational and vocational systems, thus enhancing their opportunities for a productive life.

The “Accompaniment” program, a pioneering initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and others, provided a platform for the formation and support of more than 600 Moroccan cooperatives. Coop Lab played a major role in implementing this initiative, by organizing various formations and providing basic support for new cooperatives, preparing them to flourish in a competitive market.

Al Haouz earthquake

The response of the Holy Complex of Phosphate Foundation was rapid when the Al Haouz earthquake occurred last September, which confirmed its community commitment during periods of crisis. The “Reconstruction” initiative allowed the establishment of 468 mobile units to replace destroyed school sections, ensuring continuity of education for thousands of students. Note that this proactive approach not only provided immediate solutions, but also highlighted the ability of local communities to adapt to future challenges.

The Foundation’s community commitment crossed borders when it supported, within the framework of South-South cooperation, many human development initiatives at the international level in 2023, as it particularly supported the valorization of agricultural products of the Great Green Wall in Senegal, which contributed to preserving biodiversity and improving the living conditions of communities. Local.

On the research and development front, the Asset Management Unit (UGF) at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University has been a pillar in improving the process of managing project proposal requests and following up on research and development initiatives. This fund manages a significant portfolio of 18 research asset packages and monitors 200 existing projects, demonstrating a deep commitment to innovation and technical progress.
