Martin Bojanov – The notary was tracked and controlled by special intelligence means until his murder on January 31, “Sega” reports, citing sources from the prosecutor’s office.
During the murder itself, however, he was without a “tail” from the agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, because the “objects” are not continuously monitored. Tracking started in November 2023.
Prosecutors do not hope to glean much information from Bojanov’s phone calls and meetings because he was aware that he was being watched and tapped. Talking on the phone through various online applications prevents eavesdropping, and the communication can be revealed by extracting information from the phone.
Unofficially, the state prosecution claims that the former district prosecutor of Sofia, Nevena Zartova, has a proven connection with the Notary. There are 17 witnesses against her, including employees of the prosecutor’s office, as well as those with secret identities. During the hearing in the special parliamentary committee last week, Zartova denied being related to Bojanov.
Zartova only admits that he was at a banquet of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bansko, which she also attended.
The prosecutors have evidence that at the event in question in Bansko, where Bojanov appeared, Zartova personally introduced him to those sitting at her table. It is also known at whose table Bojanov sat afterwards. There is also evidence that Bojanov was in her office at least three times, Sega’s sources point out.
The city prosecutor’s office is also verifying witness statements that Zartova visited the notorious SS club, whose abbreviation means “judicial like-minded people”.
Three witnesses also connect former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev with Bojanov. There are witnesses that he went with Zartova to the SS club, and that he called it “Our place at Marto’s”. However, this will still be clarified by the state prosecution. Ivan Geshev himself denies such connections and has vowed to sue anyone who claims such a thing. Geshev recently announced that he has filed a lawsuit against Justice Minister Atanas Slavov for such statements.
Nevena Zartova and her deputies resigned following the scandal with the Notary and the data that the cases against him simply sank in the district prosecutor’s office. After that, she became very active in the media, talking mainly about the connections of magistrates with the other very famous figure in the system – Petio Euroto.
In the case, there is also information about judges who were in close relations with the Notary, including at a high level in the hierarchy of the closed special court, “Sega” reports. For another current administrative judge, who is a former prosecutor and the wife of a lawyer, including data on joint family trips abroad with Bojanov and his wife.
However, the investigators found during the searches of places connected to Bojanov, various technical means of recording – for example, a pen that can record sound and image. The card checking device in the SS club was also found, for which examinations are awaited.
