The newly elected Prime Minister will be sworn in at the Rashtrapati Bhavan or Aiwan-e-Sadar on Thursday, February 29 or Friday, March 1. Before that, the National Assembly will elect the Prime Minister on February 28 or 29.
It is assumed that PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif will be elected as the new prime minister by the National Assembly.
Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan on 11 April 2022, following the ouster of Imran Khan earlier.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa at the swearing-in ceremony; Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja; Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza; Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir; Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi; Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar; Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haque Kakar; Member of the Federal Cabinet; foreign ambassadors; High Commissioner; Senior Civil and Military Officers; Supreme Court and High Court Judges; Federal Secretary; Attorney General of Pakistan; Auditor General of Pakistan; Chief Minister of Punjab and Sindh; Governor of the Province; and other dignitaries will be invited.
Meanwhile, according to Article 41(5) of the Constitution of Pakistan, elections must be held within 30 days of the vacancy of the presidency. But if the presidential election is not held within that period due to the dissolution of the National Assembly, then the presidential election must be held within 30 days of the general election.
Accordingly, the 14th presidential election of Pakistan will be held on March 9.
