Legend Rio Ferdinand urged Paul Pogba to explain after the player was issued a four-year ban for doping.

After an investigation, Paul Pogba was sentenced to a four-year ban by the Italian anti-doping agency. Recently, Rio Ferdinand, who overcame the doping controversy in 2003, sent advice to the French midfielder.

The former MU legend spoke out in support of his former teammate, urging the French striker to speak up and defend his innocence. From his own experience, Ferdinand emphasized the importance of transparency and voice during difficult times like this.

Speaking on the ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE’ podcast, Rio said: “It’s very appropriate for me to sit here and talk about this because I’ve been through it. I’m not going to jump in immediately and say he’s guilty.” Because I have been in this position and I know Paul. What I need is information from Pogba, I need him to give clearer explanations about my case.”

“My lawyers and the club have asked me to let the lawyers handle this matter and let everything take its course. Hopefully they will do the right thing by you. If time could come back, or if I were in Pogba’s situation now, I would definitely have to do something. Maybe through this podcast, clearly stating in public everything I’ve been through,” he added.

The former English player also advised Pogba to take care of himself. Currently, the player born in 1993 has sent an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) and is waiting for the final decision.

If the penalty is upheld, the Juventus player’s career will completely end because when he completes his sentence, Pogba will be 35 years old and will no longer have the chance to return to professional football.
