The minimum wage will rise to NIS 5,880 per month for a full-time position

Starting tomorrow (Monday), the minimum wage will rise to NIS 5,880 for a full-time monthly position and NIS 32.31 an hour. According to a Bank of Israel report, about 17% of employees in the State of Israel earn minimum wage – more than 565 thousand workers.

The minimum wage increases due to the increase in the average wage last year, and in accordance with the minimum wage law which states that it must be updated every year in April and fixed so that it is at least 47.5% of the average wage (which was determined at the beginning of the year by the National Insurance). Last year the minimum wage rose from 5,300 NIS (29.12 per hour) to 5,571.75 NIS (30.61 per hour).

On top of that, thanks to the collective agreement between the Histadrut and the Organization of Guarding and Security Companies and the expansion order issued pursuant to it, the minimum wage in the industry is also expected to rise automatically. The minimum wage for security inspectors is 10% more than the general minimum wage and will be 35.54 shekels per hour, and for a ‘basic security guard’ 15% more than the minimum wage (ie 48.46 shekels per hour). The agreement establishes a level of training and positions that reach up to a minimum wage of 60% more than the minimum wage for a senior security guard or a security guard covering Jerusalem (NIS 51.69 per hour).
