The man convicted of the murders in front of the Solo disco has been returned to our country – 2024-03-02 03:45:33

Iliyan Todorov, convicted of two murders committed in 2009, was returned to Bulgaria on Friday, the prosecutor’s office announced. He was brought by a team of the Main Directorate “Security” to the Ministry of Justice.

Todorov was sentenced to life in prison in 2013. However, he was a fugitive from justice for 11 years. The 38-year-old man was arrested last year in Uzbekistan.

The murders were committed after a scandal in front of the “Solo” disco between Todorov’s company and that of the goalkeeper of the national hockey team Kiril Vazharov and Vasil Alexandrov. There was also a third casualty during the altercation, who survived.

At first instance, Todorov was acquitted by former judge Rumiana Chenalova. Then his remand was changed and he was free until the appellate court ruled.

At the second instance, he was convicted, but in the meantime he had fled Bulgaria. His sentence was finally confirmed by the third instance.
