This volume of losses is related to lost revenues and the removal of Russian assets from the companies’ balance sheets. According to the agency, new data shows the extent of financial losses in the global corporate sector since the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
Ian Massey, a representative of the S-RM consulting company, quoted “Reuters” as saying that “companies that still want to leave Russia will face additional difficulties, write off large amounts of assets and suffer huge losses.”
According to the Yale Management School report cited by the agency, about a thousand foreign companies have left the Russian market in the last two years. The agency adds that many foreign manufacturers of consumer goods do not intend to limit their business in the Russian Federation, saying that their products are needed by the average Russian consumer.
After the last estimates published by the agency in August 2023, the volume of losses of foreign companies due to the exit of the Russian market increased by one third. At that time, this figure was 80 billion dollars.
