The hidden charm of Magdalena del Mar emerges in a small corner known as Miraculous Medal, where history is intertwined with the daily lives of its inhabitants. This enclave, which extends between blocks 10 and 11 of Avenida del Armyis much more than just a neighborhood: it is a living testimony of the growth and transformation of Limathe Peruvian capital.

The humble origins of Medalla Milagrosa date back to 1955, when a group of workers from a stone crushing company established themselves in what was previously known as a simple «descent«, a mandatory step for fishermen and visitors to Marbella beach. Over time, this place attracted artisanal fishermen and families in search of a better life in the capital.

What began as a modest settlement soon became a vibrant neighborhood, enriched by internal migration from various regions of the country, such as Apurímac and Ayacucho. Despite its modest origins, Medalla Milagrosa was not satisfied with being just a marginal settlement: in 1980, during the government of Fernando Belaunde Terry, it was formalized and provided with basic services, such as a school and a track.
