The Libyan national basketball team qualified for the group stage of the African Championship qualifiers, after succeeding in passing its counterpart, Morocco, in the first round of the “Afro Basket 2025” qualifiers.
This Tuesday evening, the Libyan national team was able to defeat Morocco with a score of (63-71), in the match that was held at the “Mohamed Mazali” Hall in the Tunisian city of Monastir.
The Libyan national team ended the first half ahead of the Moroccan national team by a score of 42-24. The first leg between the two teams ended in a 75-75 draw.
In the final qualifiers, the Libyan national basketball team will meet Nigeria, Cape Verde and Uganda. If we qualify for the Afro Basket 2025 finals, there will still be a chance for the Libyan national team to compete in the World Cup and Olympic Games qualifiers.
The group stage of the African Championship is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Wednesday, and will continue until February 2025, and the teams qualifying for the tournament finals will be determined.
The Libyan Basketball Federation congratulated the Libyan national team for qualifying. The federation wrote on its official account on the “Facebook” platform: “Congratulations to the men.. Libya decides the position of Morocco and wins the qualification card for the qualifying window for “Afro Basket 2025.”
The federation added: “Congratulations and salutes to Dr. Fouad Barghash, President of the Libyan Basketball Federation, and the members of the executive office and the technical and administrative staff of the national team.”
To qualify for the Afro Basket finals, the teams must occupy the first three places in each group, which will be played in two rounds.
