Just over 17% of the budget is allocated to this year’s activities of the Latvian men’s, youth, women’s, women’s, indoor and beach-soccer teams, while almost 8% is allocated to the implementation of infrastructure projects. It should be noted that in the process of implementing infrastructure projects, this is the last year of the fifth cycle of the UEFA “HatTrick” program, but the sixth cycle of the program will begin already in July, in which the available funding for the duration of four years will be increased to five million euros.

9% of the LFF budget will be allocated to organizing national team matches and tournaments in Latvia, while 6% will be allocated to women’s football and grassroots football activities. A similar part of the budget will cover organizing the work of referees in Latvian football competitions and maintaining the VAR system.

It should be noted that this year’s successful work aimed at attracting European Union (EU) funds, which is expected to amount to around 400,000 euros, represents a significant contribution to the LFF budget. This allows the LFF to take an active position in the involvement of various international projects, participating in the introduction of positive changes both in football and in society in general.

This allows us to be sure of the structure of the year from the point of view of financial planning, accurately predicting the necessary resources for all days activities, national team events, competitions, infrastructure projects and other Latvian for the needs of everyday football life. Thanks to the LFF administration and the finance committee for what they have done to make such a planned and predictable work process possible” , underlines the LFF President Vadim Lashenko.

Furthermore, during the last meeting of the LFF board of directors, V. Lashenko presented to the board the current events in the selection process of the coach of the Latvian national team, where work on interviews and evaluation of potential candidates continues. The confirmation of the coach is expected for February.

The LFF Board of Directors was informed of the changes in the structure of the LFF, where several departments and functions were redistributed in order to improve day-to-day processes, and the Competition Department was created. Also discussed were planned changes to the LFF’s Player Status and Transfer Regulations relating to player internships, which will also include several new restrictions, including the maximum number of players on internship contracts that a club can require to participate in the competition, while retaining the right to request promotion to the league.
