On January 17, in the upper chamber of the French parliament – the senate, another biased draft resolution against our country and its sovereignty and territorial integrity was discussed. The official website of the Senate stated: “The Senate will consider the draft resolution condemning Azerbaijan’s military attack on Nagorno-Karabakh (?!) and preventing any attempt at aggression against Armenia, violation of its territorial integrity.” The draft document also includes a request to impose sanctions against Azerbaijan and “guarantee the right of the Armenian population to return to Karabakh”.
Political scientist Amid Aliyev told Publika.az about the issue made a statement.
He pointed out that it is not the first time that France adopts a biased resolution against Azerbaijan or tries to:
“This campaign was conducted against Azerbaijan during the Second Karabakh War. This work was continued by France when control was established in the Lachin Corridor. This issue was raised even before the UN Security Council meeting. In all the mentioned attempts, the hopes of France were not realized. At the present moment, there is no political and legal basis for the adoption of a biased resolution against Azerbaijan by any branch of the French political power. This will in no way affect Azerbaijan and its position.
It seems that France will continue to maintain its biased position on this issue until the end. This approach cannot be expected to change during Macron’s rule. Behind all this, the prejudice against Azerbaijan is the growing influence of Azerbaijan not only in the region but also outside the region. “At this moment, the new biased resolution of the French National Assembly will remain an ineffective resolution only on paper.”
