Vadim Shumkov, the head of the Kurgan region, which has been flooded due to the spring flooding of rivers in Russia, has announced that a huge wave of water is approaching the center of the region.

Shumkov announced this in a message published on the Telegram channel.

“In addition to Tobol’s own waters and springs flowing into it, more than 1.3 billion cubic meters of water flow from Kazakhstan, which, according to the Federal Agency for Water Resources, is twice the volume of 1994,” he wrote, adding that

the “head” of the flood is now located 10 km from the city of Kurgan.

“The volume of water is huge, everything we see in Kurgan when Cheremukhovo is flooded is still a small part of the volume that approaches the city,” the head of the region emphasized.

Shumkov again called on the residents of the settlements in the flood zone to evacuate.

According to “Interfax”, specialists of the Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of the Urals predict that on April 15-18, the level of the Tobol River near the city of Kurgan will continue to rise, and on some days, sharply.

On April 8, a state of emergency was introduced in the Kurgan region due to flooding.

According to TASS, as of the morning of April 15, 15 thousand 641 residential houses and 27 thousand 993 plots of land near the houses were flooded as a result of spring floods in 193 settlements of 33 regions of Russia.

According to the source, residential houses were flooded in the regions of Orenburg, Samara, Kurgan and Omsk. The most difficult flood situation is maintained in the Orenburg region.
