Artisanal fishing in the municipality of Gamarra is in crisis, the drought in the swamp has ended the livelihood of 1,500 families and more than 700 fishermen who have not been able to fulfill their day, by reducing the body of water causing a serious economic crisis in the area.

The complaint was made by the fisherman, Mario Mayorga, who explained that the damage covers 1,081 hectares of the water body. “We have nowhere to fish, the swamp is in clods, completely dry, affecting 80% of the population that is dedicated to fishing in the jurisdiction.”

“The authorities are aware of this situation. We are 800 certified fishermen, 17 organizations dedicated to this activity that go through the same crisis every year. “We do not feel the support of Corpocesar or the Government, entities that must make important investments to end this nightmare that we experience every year,” he said.
Another of the complaints presented is the null meaning of the CDT Pesquero, a project of the Government of Cesar that “we see as an elegant target because no solution has been brought to us, we helped its formation, we gave ideas and we have not been taken into account” .
