This evening, Friday, the Istiqlal Party will open its eighteenth conference, which is being held under the slogan “Renewing the Covenant for the Homeland and the Citizen,” amid a group of questions and challenges that cast a shadow over the Istiqlal House, foremost of which is the question of decency and integrity, which has been forcefully imposing itself on political parties since the letter. Which King Mohammed VI addressed to Parliament on the sixtieth anniversary of its founding, in which he demanded the revitalization of parliamentary life by adopting a code of ethics in the legislative institution in its two chambers that would have a binding legal nature.

According to independent sources, the question of ethics will be the subject of major discussion within the conference, after a number of events and facts surfaced during the weeks preceding the conference.

The sources, who did not wish to be named, confirmed in communications with the Hespress electronic newspaper that the conference “will not close its eyes to the events that took place in the past weeks that shook the members and the organization,” stressing that “everything will be discussed at the conference and we will not favor anyone.”

The same sources recorded that the issue of the leaked “audio recording” attributed to the prominent leader of the party, Nour al-Din Madyan, in which he speaks in an offensive manner about his colleague Rafia al-Mansouri, who filed a complaint against him before the judiciary, “is expected to occupy a space of discussion in the conference,” especially since both… Madyan and Al-Mansouri were nominated for membership in the Executive Committee.

It does not seem that the audio recording issue will be the only one that imposes itself on the Independents’ Conference, as the “slap” incident, whose hero was the suspended party’s Executive Committee member Youssef Abtawi, against Tetouan parliamentarian Moncef El Toub, is also expected to be the subject of discussion and will strongly pose the question of synthesis before the conference. Especially since it had clearly harmed the party and its image before public opinion.

In addition to these two incidents that occupied national public opinion for many weeks, it will be up to the conference to delve into the events and skirmishes that took place at regional conferences in a number of regions, especially Marrakesh, whose conference was known for protests, beatings, and injuries, which indicates that the situation could be tense at this time. The long-awaited organizational station from the “brothers in conflict.”

It is noteworthy that the Istiqlal Party will hold its eighteenth national conference, starting this evening, Friday, until the day after tomorrow, Sunday, with the participation of 3,600 conferences, male and female, who will elect the president of the conference, discuss and approve the papers that will be presented in it, before the members of the National Council meet to vote on the Secretary-General and members of the Executive Committee, which She will lead the party in the coming years.
