Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov said that contrary to popular belief, the absence of pain in the heart does not indicate the health of this organ.
Publika.az reports that he refuted the popular myth in the “About the Most Important Thing” program.
The expert said that sometimes the heart of a person with a problem in the cardiovascular system reveals it only at the moment of death.
“When you have a heart ache – not intercostal neuralgia, but a heart ache – it means you’ve had atherosclerosis for 15 years. This means that there are already catastrophic contractions. This is a heartfelt cry for help,” the doctor warned.
According to Myasnikov, in some cases, even if there are serious problems, there may be no pain in the heart. “There is a heart attack, but there is no pain. Why? The nerve endings lose their ability to signal to you,” the doctor explained and called this situation very dangerous.
The doctor advised to undergo regular medical examination and check risk factors – blood sugar level, blood pressure, cholesterol. It’s also important to know your body mass index and whether you have a family history of heart disease, she said.
