The Colombians Nairo Quintana, Einer Rubio and Fernando Gaviria They will lead the Movistar Team in the next Giro d’Italia, which will be held between May 4 and 26, the Spanish team reported this Monday.
Quintana, the only winner of the Italian round at the starting line (he won in 2014), has recovered from the torn ligaments in his shoulder suffered by a fall in Catalunya and will be Movistar’s big bet for the general classification.
Einer Rubio has already won three stages in the Giro (in 2018, 2019 and 2023) and was eleventh in the final classification of the last edition and Gaviria has four partial victories in 2017 and another in 2019.
The Movistar line-up for the test is completed by the Spaniards Pelayo Sánchez and Albert Torres, the American Will Barta and the Italians Davide Cimolai and Lorenzo Milesi.
The sports managers, meanwhile, will be Maximilian Sciandri, José Joaquín Rojas and Jurgen Roelandts.
The Giro 2024 will begin next Saturday, May 4, with the Venaria Reale-Turin stage, 140 kilometers long and the ascent from third to Superga and second to Alto de la Maddalena, this one with the summit 22 from the finish line. The Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE) will try to revalidate last year’s victory.
