“The third edition of the Catch Music Festival will take place at the Center Culturel de Bonnevoie from April 26th to 29th,” reports Cathy Krier to the editorial team. In a team with Laurence Koch, Aniela Stoffels, Michèle Schneider and Danielle Dennewald, the pianist uses the festival to fill a gap beyond conservatories and classical training centers in an unusual way. “Our goal is to make chamber music accessible to everyone and also to let young, talented musicians play together with experienced musicians. We are convinced that everyone can learn something from everyone,” emphasizes Krier to the “Luxemburger Wort”. “This year we also have a colorful program with classics such as Shostakovich’s piano quintet, but also lesser-known pieces such as Poulenc’s sonata for horn, trombone and trumpet.”

And the cultural workers invited to the meeting are the “who’s who” of the scene: Kelly Ge, Philippe Koch, Cyprien Keizer, Matis Grisó, Ralph Szigeti, Colin Toniello, Jean Muller, Emma Landarrabilco, Arthur Stockel, Léo Halsdorf, Luise Aschenbrenner, David Sattler , Emmanuel Teutsch, Adam Rixer, Isobel Daws, Jean Bermes, Hany Heshmat and Luc Schiltz are there.

Luc Schiltz? He’s actually an actor? That’s right, he’s the narrator in a special piece. “For this edition we have come up with a family project. On Sunday, April 28th, Karol Beffa and Mathieu Laine’s musical fairy tale ‘Le roi qui n’aimait pas la musique’ will be performed in the morning. Families can choose between the original French version at 10 a.m. or the version translated into Luxembourgish by Luc Schiltz at 11:30 a.m. The story is about a grumpy king, authoritarian and jealous, who forbids his subjects, who are all musicians, from playing music. But how can you live without music?”

The opening evening on Friday, April 26th has the motto: “Do you love Brahms?” The program includes, on the one hand, the Four Songs op. 96 (“Death, that is the cool night”, “We walked, the two of us together”, “The flowers look” and Seafaring” – performed by Jean Bermes), but also the Trio op. 40 for piano, violin and horn.
