Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that at least four Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were destroyed en route to the Russian capital early this morning (March 17).

“Air defense forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Domodedovo district repelled a UAV attack on Moscow,” Mayor Sobyanin confirmed on Telegram at 4:40 a.m.

He said two hostile targets were shot down in Domodedovo district. Two other UAVs were intercepted in Ramensky and Stupino districts.

Also according to the Mayor of Moscow, there was no property damage or casualties in places where UAV debris fell. In addition, Domodedovo airport located south of Moscow is still operating normally.

At the same time, several Ukrainian UAVs also raided an oil refinery in the town of Slavyansk in Russia’s Krasnodar region, causing a fire, but the fire was quickly controlled.

Over the past week, the Russia-Ukraine conflict was marked by a large-scale escalation at the border between the two countries. Accordingly, the Ukrainian side repeatedly invaded the Kursk and Belgorod areas of Russia, and increased raids with UAVs on oil refineries and fuel depots.
