The US State Department has not confirmed that Israel was behind the attack on the Iranian embassy in Syria.

Publika.az reports that Matthew Miller, the press secretary of the foreign policy department, said this in a briefing.

“We are negotiating with partners in the region, gathering additional information, but at the moment we have no confirmation of either the target or the party responsible. I don’t want to talk specifically until we gather information about exactly what happened, but of course we are not looking for an escalation of the conflict in the region or We are always worried about everything that can cause it to increase.”

At the same time, he expressed Washington’s concern about the escalation in the region.

It should be noted that at least 7 people were killed today as a result of the Israeli Air Force’s airstrikes in the Mezze neighborhood of Damascus. Among the dead are the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Syria and Lebanon, General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and his deputy, Mohammad Haji Rahimi. According to some sources, several Iranian diplomats were also killed in the attack.
