The parents of the soldiers who died as a result of the fire in Azat village of Gegharkunik region of Armenia have given the authorities until May 10 to detain specific persons within the framework of the criminal case.
Publika.az Hayk Kirakosyan, the father of the dead soldier, informed journalists about this.
He added that he could name specific names, but he would refrain from doing so for now.
“If we find out at the trial held on May 10 that the criminal case against these people has not been initiated and the question of their arrest has not been resolved, then we will come to the government building with all our friends and relatives, and this will, to put it mildly, cause concern for the authorities,” Hayk said. warned.
On the morning of May 1, the relatives of the soldiers who died as a result of the fire in the temporary barracks in the village of Azat, Gegharkunik district, held a protest in Yerevan’s Republic Square. They demand an objective investigation and do not believe the official version of what happened.
On the night of January 19, 2023, a fire broke out in a house serving as a temporary barrack of an engineering company in the village of Azat, Gegharkunik district. As a result, 15 servicemen were killed, and 3 more servicemen were placed in the Burn Center with burn injuries. According to the Investigative Committee, the cause of the emergency was the use of gasoline for heating. After the tragedy, 5 high-ranking soldiers were released from their positions. 2 criminal cases have been initiated in connection with the fire.
