The Chairman of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asumi, addressed a letter to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Theodoros Rousopoulos regarding the resolution adopted by the organization on the non-ratification of the powers of the Azerbaijani delegation.

Publika.az reports that the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis has released information about this.

The letter says: “The Arab Parliament was acquainted with the resolution adopted by PACE on not confirming the powers of the Azerbaijani delegation. The Arab Parliament deeply regrets the adoption of this resolution. Apart from being a close friend and strategic partner of the Arab states, the Republic of Azerbaijan plays an important role in the protection of cultural diversity both in Europe and the world, as well as in the promotion of inter-civilizational dialogue.

It was noted that Azerbaijan has been a full member of the Council of Europe since 2001 and plays an important role in promoting the organization’s activities, as well as in achieving the goals and principles of the organization: “Azerbaijan spares no effort in the direction of reducing tension and preventing conflicts at the global level. The successes achieved in this direction are a clear proof of this”.

The letter states that the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis, has started to play a global role in promoting the values and principles of dialogue and cooperation, as well as spreading the culture of peace and tolerance, during its short period of activity.

It was stated that international multilateral organizations such as the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe are based on the promotion of dialogue and mutual understanding in their activities: “In addition to playing the role of a platform for the expansion of cooperation, such organizations should not lose their strength and unity during the growing conflicts and disagreements in the world. In addition, multilateral parliamentary diplomacy it should remain a tool for reconciling their points, act as a wall of resistance in the face of any disagreement, and be an added value for spreading the principles of peace and tolerance”.
