Policeman Kausar Ali, accused in the shooting death of his colleague in the Baridhara diplomatic zone of the capital, is mentally unstable, his relatives said. He has taken treatment several times.
Kausar Ali is the master’s son of hero freedom fighter Hayat Ali of Daulatkhali Darerpara area of Sadar Union of Daulatpur Upazila of Kushtia. He joined the Bangladesh Police on 15 December 2005.
Kausar’s mother Mabia Khatun said, “My son is so good.” He has a problem with his head. After joining the service, around 2010, he was diagnosed with mental illness. He was last spoken to at around 8pm on Saturday. Well spoken to me. However, my son used to talk a little less at home for a few days.
In this regard, his wife Nilufar Yasmin Sathi said, “My husband is suffering from mental illness.” He used to get sick sometimes. He was treated at Pabna Mental Hospital several times. He has the medical documents. We had no family problems. He used to communicate less with family members when mental problems started. He spoke less.
Golam Mostafar, the former chairman of Daulatpur Sadar Union, said that he was suffering from mental illness since five years after joining the service. Later, after getting treatment, he rejoined the service when he recovered.
Earlier on June 8 (Saturday) at around 12:15 PM, a policeman named Monirul Islam was killed in front of the guardroom of the Palestine Embassy in Baridhara Diplomatic Zone.
