The number of deaths due to the fall of a stage in San Pedro Garza García on May 22 rose to 10, reported the Attorney General’s Office of Nuevo León.
The tenth victim was identified as Inés Frías Oria, 53 years old, who had been injured in the collapse of the metal structure during the closing of the campaign of the Citizen Movement candidate for mayor of San Pedro, Lorenia Canavatti, and the former presidential candidate, Jorge Álvarez Máynez.
Through an information sheet, the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the death of the man who was hospitalized at the University Hospital and whose cause of death was acute cerebral hemorrhage, secondary to deep head trauma.
Almost a month after the events that occurred at the El Obispo baseball park, the death toll had remained at nine and more than 100 injured, the majority without serious complications, according to the State Government in its latest report.
Stage falls at closing event of Citizen Movement campaign on May 22
On Wednesday, May 22, due to strong gusts of wind, the pavilion where Lorenia Canavati, candidate of the Citizen Movement (MC) for mayor of San Pedro, Nuevo León, was celebrating the closing of her campaign, collapsed.
At the event, accompanied by Jorge Álvarez Máynez, there were numerous people who were affected by the incident.
According to local media, moments before the presidential candidate of Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) gave his speech, the awning and part of the structure fell on the thousands of attendees, who were hoping to enjoy the Bronco concert, scheduled to liven up the meeting.
