The busy season of BPL ended on Friday night. Fortune Barisal took home the title for the first time, not allowing Comilla Victorians to win the hat-trick title. Tamim’s Barisal became the BPL champion after defeating Comilla Victorians by 6 wickets in the final. After the end of the tournament, the hair-raising analysis is now underway. Popular cricket website Cricinfo has selected the best XI of the tournament based on performance.

Tamim Iqbal (Captain)
492 runs, average 35.14, strike rate 127.13

Tamim Iqbal has done an amazing batting for Barisal. Due to which he is the highest run-scoring batsman at the end of the tournament. He has three fifties in it. Maximum 71. He scored 39 runs in the final. He crossed the 400-run barrier for the fourth time in BPL.

Tanjid Hasan Tamim
384 runs, average: 32.00, strike rate: 135.68.

Only one fifty in the first 9 matches. He is regarded as one of the best talents in Bangladesh cricket. He proved it towards the end of the tournament. Scored 70 runs off 51 balls against Dhaka. In the next match, he played an impeccable innings of 116 runs off 65 balls. That’s why Chittagong Challengers got a chance to play in the playoffs.

Tawheed is the heart
462 runs. Average: 38.5, Strike Rate: 149.5

The second highest run scorer in the tournament is Comilla Vic Tawhid Hridiya. But most importantly, he looks like a more mature batter than ever before. He played an innings of 108 runs off 57 balls against the great Dhaka. Besides, he played an unbeaten innings of 91 runs off 47 balls against Khulna Tigers in Chittagong. Then he played 64 runs in the first qualifier against Rangpur Riders. He was also the second highest run scorer in 2023.

Babar Azam
Runs 251, Average: 50.20, Strike Rate: 114.61

Babar Azam played only 6 matches for Rangpur Riders. Still he is in the team of the best of the tournament. Won 5 out of 6 matches. In which he did not win, Babar played only 2 runs innings. Contribution in 5 matches brought him to the best team.

James Neesham
291 runs, average: 72.75, strike rate: 167.24, wickets: 4, economy rate: 9.93

After Babar Azam left Rangpur Riders, New Zealander Jimmy Neesham came to fill his place. Like Babar, he scored a half century in the first match. Neesham played two more unbeaten fifty innings. He played an innings of 97 runs against Comilla in the first qualifier. It didn’t work though.

Mushfiqur Rahim (Wicketkeeper)
380 runs, average: 31.66, strike rate: 120.63, catches: 17, stumping: 2.

Champion Barisal’s Mushfiqur Rahim is the best wicket-keeper batsman in 2024 BPL. His experience and performance far surpass that of Liton Das and Nurul Hasan Sohan. Mushfiq helped the team in tough times in the second qualifier. He made three fifties in all.

Kyle Myers
243 runs, average: 40.50, strike rate: 157.79, wickets: 9, economy: 5.91

Caribbean cricketer Kyle Myers joined the BPL late. However, his inclusion was like gold to Barisal. His impact was great. 48 in the first match against Sylhet Strikers, took 3 wickets for 12 runs. After that, he performed regularly in every match. He played an innings of 46 runs in the final. He also won the final best award.

Shakib Al Hasan
255 runs, average: 23.18, strike rate: 158.38, wickets: 17, economy: 6.31

Shakib Al Hasan’s Rangpur Riders had to withdraw from the second qualifier after losing to Barisal. He scored only 1 run in this match. Again he could not play well in the beginning of the tournament due to his eye problem. Shakib came on fire in the middle. Besides scoring 255 runs, he also took 17 wickets.

Mohammad Saifuddin
Wickets: 15, Average: 15.66, Economy: 6.81

There were many concerns about his fitness. But Saifuddin put all fears behind him and came to the end of the BPL and played in the jersey of Barisal. His excellent batting and bowling played a significant role in Barisal’s title win. He took 15 wickets in 9 matches. He kept Andre Russell and Zaker Ali at bay despite conceding three wides and a no-ball in the final over. Gave only 7 runs in all.

Bilal Khan
Wickets: 15, Average: 26.06, Economy: 7.92

The Omani left-arm pacer ended his maiden foray into the BPL as the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker. Bilal Khan’s excellent bowling acted as the controller behind Chittagong’s great performance at the start of the BPL.

Shariful Islam
Wickets: 22, Average: 15.86, Economy Rate: 7.81

His team lost 11 out of 12 matches in the excellent Dhaka Round Robin League. Shariful’s great Dhaka team started by winning the first match but lost all the subsequent matches. But Shariful alone was brilliant. He has taken 22 wickets in 12 matches. No one else could break that record.
