LH deputy Landbauer: Regular sporting activity is the best health precaution

St. Pölten (OTS) Get out into nature, get set, go! From March 1st to May 31st, every minute of outdoor exercise counts for all working people in the spusu Lower Austria Company Challenge 2024. It doesn’t matter whether you like running, inline skating, pedaling a bike or just hiking. During this time, Sportland Lower Austria is looking for the most active companies in Lower Austria for the seventh time in cooperation with spusu, the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce and sodexo. “We want to offer Lower Austria’s working people an attractive opportunity to sustainably integrate exercise into their everyday lives. Regular sporting activities are simply the best health precaution, increase physical and mental well-being and improve performance. In addition, joint exercise units can sustainably strengthen the working atmosphere and cohesion – that’s what makes our challenge such a successful project for the sports region and the business location of Lower Austria,” says the LH deputy responsible for sport, Udo Landbauer.

An integral part of this year’s Lower Austrian company challenge is once again the “spusu Sport” app. This was developed specifically for the competition and is continually adapted and optimized thanks to feedback from participants. Above all, new filters and parameters for tracking minutes were recently implemented in order to raise the fairness and transparency of the challenge to a completely new level. In addition, some new sports have been added and the popular badges for individual sporting achievements have been expanded so that the awards can now be won in bronze, silver and gold.

Anyone who works hard this year also has the opportunity to win various prizes every month. All participants who manage to collect at least 2,500 active minutes of exercise in March can win a total of ten Lower Austria CARDs for the 2024/25 season. In April, ten starting places are waiting for the half marathon in the Wachau on September 15th. Furthermore, a company package with ten day entries including a bike lift in the St. Corona am Wechsel trail park will be awarded to all companies with at least 25,000 active minutes. As if that weren’t enough, there is also something to be won before the challenge officially starts. 10 x 2 starting places for the app run at this year’s Wings For Life Run (May 5th) will be raffled off among everyone who has registered for the spusu Lower Austria company challenge by Thursday, February 29th.

In addition to the most active individual athletes, there will also be a separate apprentice ranking for the first time this year. To do this, apprentices just have to select the appropriate selection field in the registration process and they can take part. The current interim status of this rating is not visible during the challenge. The five most active apprentices will then be awarded prizes at the final event and will each be rewarded with a 100 euro voucher from the Lower Austrian sporting goods retailer by the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce.

The competition starts on March 1st, in which all working Lower Austrians can help make their company the most active in the state. Registration and participation are very easy and free of charge: First, download the “spusu Sport” app onto your smartphone. The second step is to register the company in the app. Third, log into the app and join your company virtually. The fourth step is to do as much exercise as possible.

Every active minute is then documented by the app and automatically booked into the respective company’s movement account. Participants always have the opportunity to follow the current status of the competition in the app. Settlement will take place on May 31, 2024. After that, the three most active companies in the five categories “EPU”, “1 – 9 employees”, “10 – 49 employees”, “50 – 249 employees” and “250+ employees” will be included awarded for most minutes of movement collected.
