The National Resistance Center obtained this information from contacts in the Belarusian underground opposition movements.
“The eighth training of mercenaries for the war in Ukraine has ended in Belarus. Special unit “Granit” conducted combat coordination training here,” the center’s report states.
The center states that the main task of this unit will be to carry out sabotage operations on the territory of Ukraine. “Wagner” mercenaries train the unit’s fighters in the use of weapons, as well as in tactical medicine.
Such units are mostly armed with “Kalashnikov” automatic weapons, automatic grenade launchers and hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus announced the creation of the “Granit” unit in January 2024. It was initially reported that it would fight armed groups in sabotage and reconnaissance missions and strengthen border protection.
It has already been reported that Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko claimed during his visit to Grodno that Belarus does not want to fight, but is preparing for war.
“Don’t believe anyone who says we want to fight. We are preparing for war, I say this very honestly. ‘If you want peace, prepare for war.’ I did not invent this saying, but it is very accurately said,” Lukashenko said.
