The man who carried out the assassination of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is in a prison hospital in Trenčín. This was reported by the server tvnoviny.sk, according to which the bomber should be in a psychiatric ward. He was placed in this department for preventive reasons, Juraj C. is under continuous supervision.
The assassin, who according to the Slovak media is the 71-year-old writer and activist Juraj C., was sent to custody by the court. He faces up to 25 years in prison or life in prison for attempted premeditated murder. The accused did not file a complaint against the custodial prosecution. According to the court, he justified the assassination by his disagreement with the policy of the Slovak government and during the interrogation he claimed that Fica he didn’t want to kill.
The Slovak Government Office reported today that Prime Minister Fico’s health is slowly improving. Fico is hospitalized in the university hospital in Banská Bystrica. Shortly after the assassination, the prime minister’s close associate and defense minister Robert Kaliňák informed the media about the prime minister’s state of health, including his operations. Subsequently, hospitals and government offices began to publish brief information. Four days after the assassination, the hospital said that Fico’s life is out of danger and his recovery will take a long time.
