Latent Image is an invisible image formed in photographic material as a result of exposure and which becomes visible through analog development. The eighth version of the Sixth Region Photography Festival seeks precisely to reveal the invisible, the hidden and the imaginary of the territory through workshops, laboratories, launches and conversations around photography, which will allow more people in the region and the country, develop this art in their communities.

Financed this year by the Fondart Regional, the FEFS has already carried out 7 previous versions and has become an engine for the training and dissemination of photography from the O’Higgins region. For this year, the communes of Rancagua and Pichilemu will receive the workshops, laboratories, discussions and photobook launches of this traditional event that is free and open to the community.

The work team, made up of its director, Milko Carreño and professionals Rita Gajardo, Jacqueline Staforelli and Benjamín Acevedo, tell us about this year’s news and invite those who are interested in this discipline to participate in the free activities scheduled between May and September 2024.

“We will have laboratories and workshops with prominent national and international photographers, a new cycle of Photographic Conversations and launches of interesting photobooks, with which we want to promote photography and help reveal the latent images in our territory,” said the Festival director, Milko Carreño.

For her part, Jacqueline Staforelli, general production coordinator, adds that the idea is to contribute to rescuing the visual memory of our territory, for which the Territory and Memory Experimental Laboratory of Romi Alarcón and Tatiana Mayerovich will be held, between the 5th and 7th. September at the Ross Cultural Center, in Pichilemu. “We hope that attendees will carry out work to assess and rescue visual memory and venture into the manifestation of our internal and external territories.”

A total of 11 activities, whose program can be reviewed on the website www.fefs.cl and on the FEFS social networks (@festivalfefs), give life to this new version that includes events open to the public, and also activities with upon application, for those who want to train in workshops and laboratories with limited spaces.
