I still have regular check-ups and have a doctor who is familiar with monitoring my health. When I feel like everything is overwhelming, I allow myself to pause to rest and relax my mind. Luckily, my health is stable now, and my spirit is much more excited than before.

– Ms. Dong Nghi’s daughter is now grown up. What is the bond between you and your daughter?
I’m grown up now, I know how to be independent and take care of myself. I am aware that my mother works or tours a lot, so I am always proactive in living and studying.
I regularly proactively make video calls (video calls), discuss with my children about everything in life and study. Whenever you need me, I’m there. Luckily, my child is very obedient, understands things, and studies well. That is my blessing.

– Your daughter has artistic talent, do you intend for her to pursue a singing career?
I think because my child has my blood, he likes to sing and dance. I hope my child will develop as naturally as possible, not because of the mother’s name or because of anything that affects the child’s future or choices.
During the reunion, I tried to teach my child to practice Vietnamese singing. The mother and child went into the kitchen to cook dishes such as: rice, vermicelli noodles, pho, stir-fried chicken with lemongrass and chili, fried chicken wings with fish sauce… I created joy like that to make the mother-daughter relationship stronger. Even though my child grew up abroad, I always try to teach and guide him to preserve Vietnamese spiritual values.
– What makes you actively perform live shows and activities in recent years?
I’m glad that even at the age of 50, I still have regular shows and the audience loves me. I take advantage of the time when my health still allows to perform for the public.
I often joke that I may be old in age but not in soul. I always maintain an optimistic spirit to discover new musical colors, combining with young people.
My energy comes from many sides: family, fans, friends, colleagues. It is the love that helps me feel confident when I appear. No one wants to be useless. Even though sometimes I’m tired, I’m still happy because I can still work.
– How do you rate your performance right now?
I have been on stage since I was 5 years old, cultivating a passion for singing and watching the audience. Perhaps that is why God arranged and fate led to create the name Nhu Quynh.
I am now over 50, my voice and appearance will of course be different. I believe women of every age have their own beauty. I will bring mature emotions to everyone at this stage.
– Some people say that Nhu Quynh is destroying the “temple” she built over the years because of some inappropriate innovations, such as recently combining bolero and rap. What is your response?
I dare to do and dare to take responsibility because of simple thinking and colorful art. If I receive mixed opinions, that’s luck. Let’s not be pessimistic, let’s think positively. If you succeed then good, even if you fail it is still a lesson.
Many people assume that Nhu Quynh must be gentle and modest, wearing an ao dai and singing bolero folk songs. But actually, I really love rap, dance, rock… I’m a “hardcore fan”. Vietnamese rap the seasons!
The audience has the right to demand and artists always desire to be creative. Of course, for me, all innovation is within allowable limits.
