The Indonesian national team will face Vietnam twice in the 2026 World Cup Qualification Group F match in the Asian zone. The Garuda squad will host Vietnam at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Thursday (21/3/2024).
Five days later, the Indonesian National Team will visit My Dinh National Stadium. Asnawi Mangkualam et al are ambitious to get full points to maintain their chances of qualifying for the next round.
Ahead of the match, Shin Tae-yong positively welcomed the presence of naturalized players in the Vietnam camp because it would make a good change. However, he finds it difficult to predict the score for the match later.
“I realize that Vietnam also has several naturalized players, I think that’s a good change. In my experience while coaching, it will be very difficult to predict what the score will be in the match,” said Shin Tae-yong, quoted from the official Instagram of PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir, Thursday (14/3/2024).
Meanwhile, the Indonesian national team has announced 28 players to face Vietnam. Shin Tae-yong also summoned two players who had not yet taken the Indonesian Citizen (WNI) oath, namely Thom Haye and Ragnar Oratmangoen.
Then, Jay Idzes will make his debut with the Indonesian National Team. However, the Garuda squad will not be strengthened by Ernando Ari who is currently injured.
