Sheinbaum dismisses DEA report on the CJNG and Sinaloa Cartel

MEXICO CITY (apro).- Once again, the presidential candidate of Morena-PT-PVEM, Claudia Sheinbaum, questioned a report from the US Anti-Drug Agency (DEA), now for the National Evaluation of the Drug Threat 2024.

“We have to see how, what is the basis, it is not the first time that the DEA makes reports that have no basis. So, you have to see the basis of this report, first before giving an opinion,” he said in a conference from Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.

This report ensures that the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), originally from Mexico, are at the center of the most dangerous and deadly narcotics crisis that the United States has ever faced.

Questioned this morning about the content of the DEA report, the Morenista argued: “We have mentioned it on other occasions, the crisis of fentanyl consumption in the United States has to be seen as a public health problem, not only as drug trafficking. , but as a public health problem.”

Then, he asked: “What is happening to young people in the United States who have this deep addiction to fentanyl? So, we have to review the DEA sources to be able to give a further opinion.”

At the end of last January, Sheinbaum Pardo described as “part of the opposition’s dirty war” the publication of the report by journalist Tim Golden in ProPublica that claimed that the Sinaloa Cartel gave millions of dollars to the political operators of today’s president Andrés Manuel. López Obrador to finance his presidential campaign in 2006.
