Regarding the recent consecutive subsidence incidents in Hong Dan district, on May 1, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bac Lieu province Pham Van Thieu directed Hong Dan district to urgently post warning signs, localize and install warning signs. Establish safety corridors and install warning signs for areas at risk of subsidence.
The district mobilized forces to help people overcome damage and implement safety solutions; Prioritize providing fresh water sources for early summer-autumn rice areas.
Mr. Thieu also requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to continue to coordinate with localities to monitor developments in the subsidence situation to promptly find solutions to rescue and deal with it.

According to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Bac Lieu province, due to the direct impact of the drought situation, the water level on the canals has dropped very low, combined with the traffic flow on the damaged section. subsidence occurs.
Authorities said that the subsidence situation will continue in the coming time as the drought continues to be severe.
In addition, some households in Hong Dan district spontaneously sowed early summer-autumn seeds on an area of about 4,000 hectares. In the coming days, if there is no additional fresh water, the damage to the summer-autumn rice area will be very high.
