The security camera record shows the dramatic kidnapping of former Venezuelan military officer Ronald Ojeda Moreno in the early hours of Wednesday, perpetrated at his residence in the commune of Independencia, in the Metropolitan Region.

Ojeda Moreno, a retired lieutenant in the Venezuelan Army and who was recently linked by the Venezuelan government to Operation Blanco Bracelet – which sought the overthrow of Nicolás Maduro – had settled in Chile as a refugee. In the images captured and shared by MeganoticiasOjeda is seen in his underwear being escorted by a group of armed individuals through the hallways of his residential building.
The group, dressed in black and covered in helmets and bulletproof vests, apparently poses as members of the Investigative Police (PDI), with the institution’s acronym visible on their clothing. You can also see how a vehicle with a beacon is waiting for them in the parking lot of the property.

The modus operandi, characterized by its level of sophistication, has led Chilean authorities to consider various hypotheses, including the possibility of involvement of the Venezuelan military or organized crime. “The Government has asked the police to reinforce border controls, both the Carabineros, which is in charge of the borders, and the Investigative Police, which is in charge of immigration control,” declared the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve.
Given the seriousness of the situation, an alert has been requested from Interpol, while the Chilean Government remains vigilant regarding all possible implications of the case. “The Government has the obligation to consider all hypotheses, therefore, it takes measures for all possible scenarios, but I think it is completely premature to reach a conclusion,” added Monsalve.
