Intense heatwave has started in Rajshahi. The maximum temperature recorded on Wednesday (April 17) was 40.2 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature this season. Meanwhile, the people of Rajshahi are living a miserable life under the grip of continuous drought.

According to weather watchers, a mild heatstroke is usually when the maximum day temperature is between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius. And if it is between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius, it is considered as a moderate heat burn. And a temperature of 40 to 42 degrees Celsius is considered as severe heatstroke. As a result, the ongoing moderate heat wave in Rajshahi has turned into a severe heat wave today.

Rajib Khan, senior observer of Rajshahi Meteorological Office, said that severe heatwave started in Rajshahi on Wednesday. The maximum temperature recorded at 3 pm on this day was 40.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature of the day was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius in the morning. Earlier on April 6, the maximum temperature in Rajshahi was 39.7 degrees Celsius. Since then the temperature has been somewhat bearable. But for the last two days it started increasing again. On April 15, the maximum temperature reached 39.4 degrees Celsius, and the next day on Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.3 degrees Celsius.

Senior observer Rajiv Khan said, if there is no rain, the temperature will rise. And for now there is no forecast of rain in this region.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature recorded in Rajshahi on May 18, 1972 was 45.1 degrees Celsius. Which is also mentioned as the highest in the history of Bangladesh so far.
