SBN allocated 4 million square meters for public investment

During the first quarter of 2024the National Superintendency of State Assets (SBN) assigned a total of 4 million 255,900 square meters of state lands to various public entities at different levels of government.

These lands will be used for the development of various public investment projects throughout the country. The 4 million 255,900 meters squares of state land, distributed in 173 propertiesare distributed in 15 regions of the nation.

Mainly, the land was allocated to the construction and reconstruction of infrastructure, with a total of 43 properties that cover 2 million 489,077 square meters. These lands were allocated for projects such as riverside defenses and flood protection, among others.

Likewise, a total of 1 million 437,055 square meters of state lands for drinking water and sewer projects. This surface is distributed in 92 properties.

Nearly 300,000 square meters of state lands were allocated for the execution of construction and improvement projects for roads and airports. The remaining land was given for the development of recreation centers, creation of spaces and public servicesas well as for the construction of complexes for municipal services.

In this context, Wilder Sifuentes Quilcatesuperintendent of the SBN, highlighted the importance of assigning or transferring land state to the subnational governments and to the entities that are part of the national system of state assets.

«State lands are put in the hands of public institutions for the execution of public investment projectswhich directly impact citizens and contribute to the development of localities throughout the country,” he indicated.

Sifuentes Quilcate also emphasized that these assignments or land transfers They help in the constant fight against illegal land trafficking, since state assets are treated with caution.

It is important to note that the state lands were transferred through the interstate transfer modality, which is granted at the request of government entities prior justification of the investment project. The requesting entity is given a period of two years to present the final project; Otherwise, the property returns to the State.

The SBN is responsible for regulating and supervising actions related to the acquisition, disposition, management and registration of state landsin addition to providing training and legal advice to the entities that make up the National System of State Assets to optimize the use of public lands.
