Check out the updated Odyssey OLED G8, G6 and G9 models
Samsung introduces its latest Odyssey OLED gaming monitors at CES® 2024. The impressive lineup includes the Odyssey OLED G9 (model name: G95SD), the Odyssey OLED G8 (model name: G80SD) and the Odyssey OLED G6 (model name: G60SD).
The Odyssey OLED G9, a 49-inch ultra-wide curved gaming monitor, offers a 5,120×1,440 DQHD resolution, 32:9 aspect ratio, and several advanced features for an enhanced gaming experience. The Odyssey OLED G8 is Samsung’s first 32-inch flat OLED gaming monitor with a 4K UHD resolution of 3,840×2,160 and an aspect ratio of 16:9. Both monitors have an impressive 240Hz refresh rate and a GTG response time of just 0.03ms[1]. The Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27-inch QHD monitor measuring 2,560×1,440 with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 360Hz refresh rate, and a 0.03ms GTG response time.
“The new Odyssey OLED gaming monitors make gaming even more immersive, and the innovative technology allows users to customize their gaming experience,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung. “This way we not only meet the changing needs of players, but we can also exceed expectations.”
Optimal viewing experience
All new models feature Glare-Free OLED technology, which minimizes light reflections and offers an optimal viewing experience without additional equipment. Gamers can enjoy consistent brightness and colors in any lighting environment.
With VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 400, monitors display incredible detail and vibrant colors, no matter what game or content you’re viewing. They also support AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro for smooth, low-latency HDR gaming.
The three new models offer extensive physical connectivity options, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub, and a DisplayPort 1.4 input. Furthermore, they are compatible with the VESA mounting standard[2] and features a height-adjustable base (HAS) with tilt, swivel and pivot points[3].
A complete ecosystem
Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G8 are equipped with Multi Control, which allows for seamless connection between multiple devices. Multi Control allows users to easily transfer images and/or text between their Samsung monitor and other Samsung devices, such as a Galaxy Book, tablet or phone, using the mouse and keyboard[4].
Additionally, the Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G8 feature the Samsung SmartThings hub. Allows users to easily connect to various Matter and Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) compatible IoT devices[5].
The Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G8 monitors serve as an all-in-one entertainment hub. Featuring the Samsung Smart TV platform, it provides instant access to streaming and cloud gaming services, without the need for downloads, storage limitations or a PC or gaming console[6].
An elegant design
Samsung is introducing flat OLED models to the Odyssey range for the first time, with a 16:9 aspect ratio on both the Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey OLED G6. These new models maintain the elegant metal design of the OLED Odyssey range, while the thin frame is enriched with the innovative Core Lighting+.
Core Lighting+ enhances immersion in gaming and entertainment by creating ambient light on the back of the monitor. The luminous circle is now four times thinner than the previous model (G95SC) and fits perfectly into the thin 3.9mm metal bezel. Additionally, the new model introduces a tool-free mounting option for the metal stand. This stand uses a 3mm thick metal plate that blends seamlessly with your monitor’s design and provides space for other devices.
The introduction of these new models strengthens Samsung’s leading position in the gaming monitor market. Innovations in both the Odyssey OLED and Odyssey Neo ranges, including the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G as the world’s first Dual UHD gaming monitor, set the standard for the future of gaming.
