450 Securitas employees secure a mega running event
Vienna (OTS) – Last Sunday, May 5th, 2024, the annual Wings for Life World Run took place, in which over 265,000 registered participants worldwide ran for a good cause – healing spinal cord injuries. At the largest flagship run of the charity event in Vienna, Securitas Austria took over security responsibility to ensure that this mega event ran smoothly.
Preparation and monitoring: 4 days of continuous presence
From the start of construction work on Thursday, May 2nd until after dismantling on Monday, May 6th, the town hall square was continuously guarded for four days. This intensive measure ensured a smooth construction and a quick response to any incidents. 10,000 meters of barrier tape were used for the 70 km long run from Vienna to Tulln. To ensure that employees are connected to one another in the best possible way, 450 radio devices were provided. To maintain performance, 1,000 liters of drinks were made available to employees.

Qualified operations team on event day of the Wings for Life World Run
On the day of the event itself, over 450 qualified employees from Securitas Austria were on duty to ensure safety in the start area, the event area and along the route and the Wings for Life World Run. In conjunction with the Securitas command vehicle, experienced employees worked in the security center and ensured rapid communication with the deployed teams and smooth coordination with the emergency services. Caring for employees on site was also part of the comprehensive safety measures.

Successful management of further major events
In addition to the Wings for Life World Run, the Securitas Austria team mastered two other important events with flying colors on May 5th: the football game SK Rapid Vienna against Red Bull Salzburg in the Allianz Stadium, which was guarded by over 220 employees, and the international ice hockey game in Austria There were over 60 security guards on duty against Canada in the STEFFL Arena.
