Mumbai Team India captain Rohit Sharma strongly agrees that they should play regular bilateral series against Pakistan, especially in the red ball format. The right-handed batsman expects an exciting encounter if the two giants of the subcontinent resume their ties in the longest format as he praised Pakistan’s bowling line-up. India and Pakistan have not played against each other in Test cricket since 2007 when Pakistan hosted the arch-rivals for a three-match series. The host team won the tight series 1-0. The last bilateral series between the two sides took place in 2012–13 when Pakistan toured India to play white-ball cricket.
Speaking on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Vaughan asked Rohit the following question:
“Don’t you think it would be great for Test cricket for India to play Pakistan regularly? “I fully believe it! They are a good team. They have a great bowling line-up. I think it will be a good match, especially if you play in foreign conditions. It would be fantastic.”
When Vaughan was asked if he would like to see India and Pakistan engage in a regular series, he expected a good contest between the ball and the bat. “I would love to. At the end of the day, we want to be in the competition. I think it will be a great competition between the two sides. We play them in ICC tournaments anyway. So, it doesn’t matter. I’m interested.” Only in pure cricket, I am not thinking about anything else, so why not.
