The de-escalation on the front of respiratory infections in the Grand Duchy linked to Covid-19 seems confirmed. At least this is what emerges this Thursday from the latest weekly report from the Ministry of Health.

For the second week of January the number of positive people decreased, dropping to 196 cases compared to 240 cases the previous week, a drop of 18%. The positivity rate also drops to 10%, compared to 14% in week 1. All indicators suggest that the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 has decreased.

As for the flu, however, the story is different. In fact, the number of reported flu cases is increasing: the report highlights 439 cases compared to 360 cases the previous week, with an increase of 22%.

Finally, the number of people positive for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) declared by laboratories drops to 29 cases compared to 52 cases in the first week of January, a decrease of 44%. The peak of this season’s epidemic was reached in the week of December 17, 2023.
