It was in the middle of the annual pilgrimage to the beach of Sèmè, about ten kilometers from Porto-Novo, that the death of Reverend Pastor Bennett ADEOGUN, World Head of the Church of Celestial Christianity (ECC), was announced on the networks social and by certain traditional presses.

Faced with the scale of this rumor, the Venerable Supreme Marcellin ZANNOU, General Treasurer of the Higher Committee of the ECC World Committee, stepped up to provide a formal denial. Marcellin ZANNOU indicated that the absence of Reverend Pastor Bennett ADEOGUN from the nativity worship service is due to his state of health.

This Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the Shepherd of the Church of Celestial Christianity broke his silence and confirmed that he had gone through a delicate period in terms of health.

He made this known on Alleluia FM radio. This was an opportunity for him to thank all the people who accompanied him through this ordeal with their prayers.

“… I greet everyone in the name of Jesus Christ. It is I, Reverend Pastor Bennett ADEOGUN, who is speaking to you this evening, Tuesday, February 6, 2024. What is said in the past is not right and God did not want it to happen like this. I am going through this channel to greet and thank everyone. Whether Muslims, Protestants, Catholics… all religions for their prayers and good intentions towards me. Because above all God heard our prayers and still blessed me with life. May his name be praised. I saw and experienced the impact of their prayers. This is why this evening, I decided to thank you directly with my voice. Whether in Porto-Novo, Cotonou, France, etc. everyone around the world prayed for me and God answered our prayers. May God protect us and I thank the ECC. God hears our prayers and protects our church from enemies. May our church know peace, longevity”.

During this first public outing, Reverend Pastor Bennett ADEOGUN also prayed for the faithful of the ECC and for the Church itself:
... I pray for much elevation for our Church. After 2023, the Sèmè 2024 pilgrimage will also be a success. I thank the prayer groups, the parishes, the mothers’ associations, the choirs… Let us continue in prayer. We still need your prayers “.

He particularly thanked Reverend Pastor Emmanuel OSCHOFFA for his spontaneous support.

“…I thank Reverend Pastor Emmanuel OSCHOFFA for everything, because as soon as he learned of my illness, he traveled from Nigeria to Porto-Novo. He didn’t see me. He came back again. May God bless him and all the leaders of our Church in Nigeria.”
