MADRID (EUROPA PRESS).- Relatives of those kidnapped in the Gaza Strip took to the streets of the main Israeli cities this Monday to demand an agreement for the release of the hostages and warned the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, that ” “The streets will burn” if he does not accept the proposal to which the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has agreed.

The protesters continued along the iconic Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv and took to Begin Street, according to Israeli media.

One of the relatives, Einav Zangauker, mother of hostage Matan Zangauker, called on Netanyahu to be “brave,” “a leader.”

“The Government and the war cabinet must accept the agreement. We need our hostages at home. Every last one of them,” he said in statements to Israeli television Channel 12.

“If they lose this opportunity, which will probably be the last one I will have to see Matan at home, and the rest of the families to be able to see their loved ones at home, I will do it. We will remove all citizens from the country. The streets. There is a limit. You can’t play with our children’s lives, bring them home now!” he added.

The Police went against the protesters and cleared the Ayalon highway on two occasions. Videos spread on social networks show that at least one person was arrested.

“The time has come to assume the agreement. The time has come for a ceasefire,” Zangauker proclaimed with a loudspeaker and getting into one of the cars on the highway. “We are not going to let them waste tonight’s opportunity,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, in Jerusalem the Hostage Families Forum joined the demonstration against the Rafah offensive in Paris Square, in front of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s official residence. “Bibi is abandoning the hostages!” protesters chanted.

Elan Siegel, daughter of Keith Siegel, thanked those in attendance and assured that her father can “hear the screams and the energy from the tunnels of Gaza.”

Hamas announced that it accepts the latest ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip put forward by the mediating countries Qatar and Egypt. However, voices such as that of the Israeli Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, already rejected the possibility of accepting this agreement and point out that the proposal did not have Israel’s approval.

Hamas’ announcement comes a few hours after Israel began the evacuation of the Palestinian population of Rafah with a view to the beginning of a military offensive against what they consider Hamas’s last stronghold in the Gaza Strip.

In Rafá there are more than 1.2 million displaced people as a result of the entry of Israeli troops that have been sweeping the Palestinian enclave from north to south.

More than 34,000 people, most of them civilians, died in this retaliatory offensive to the attacks by Palestinian militias on October 7 in which some 1,200 people died.
