The Red Lions (FIH-2) took revenge on Argentina (FIH-7) in their third match in the Hockey Pro League on Saturday in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. The score was 4-3. The Red Panthers did lose against Argentina.

On Wednesday, the young Red Lions had lost 4-1 to Argentina. Thanks to their victory on Saturday, they picked up their first 3 points in the competition. The Red Lions will play a second game against Germany on Sunday. The Belgians lost 2-0 against world champion Germany (FIH-4) on Thursday.

The Lions will play in Argentina with a young team. The players who secured Olympic qualification in Valencia last month were now given some rest.

Red Panthers hold out for a half, but still lose to Argentina

The Belgian hockey women (FIH 4) suffered a new defeat against Argentina (FIH 2) in the Hockey Pro League on Saturday evening. After Wednesday’s 5-0 loss, this time it became 2-0 in Santiago del Estero, in the north of Argentina. In between, Germany (FIH 5) was also too strong on Thursday with 3-0.

These are difficult games for the Panthers, but that was calculated in advance. The Belgian selection in Argentina mainly consists of promising players (U21). They held out for 36 minutes against Argentina on Saturday. Agustina Gorzelany and Toccalino Sofia ultimately gave ‘las Leones’ the victory. The Belgian girls are still waiting for their first goal on Argentinian soil this week. Astrid Bonami (nose) and Noa Schreurs (hand) dropped out on Saturday with injuries.
