After a relatively long Christmas break, the Rauch Technology Sharks Gmunden’s first ice hockey team started with a strong away match against Kapfenberger SV into the new year 2024.

On December 16th, 2023 there was almost a sensation in the away game against Kapfenberg. Until the 59th minute of the game it was 2:2 against the league leaders Kapfenberg, until the home team scored the winning goal in the last minute and the game ended 3:2. It was just as close on December 8th, 2023 WEV in Vienna. There the Sharks were in the lead twice, then in the 44:31 minute it was a 3:3 draw and a power play goal from the Viennese then narrowly decided this game 4:3 for them WEV.
Coach Gregor Baumgartner used the Christmas break to further “fine-tune” his very young ice hockey team. The Sharks started their away match against Kapfenberg today, Saturday January 6th, 2024, with the appropriate enthusiasm and were able to keep up well in the first half of the game with a score of 3:2, and even took the lead 0:1 in the first minute of the game thanks to Bastian Szieber. Felix Mayer scored the second goal 8 seconds before the end of the first period. In the second half of the game the home team pulled ahead to 7:2. Two power play goals from Laurens Ober and Patrick Gaffal raised hopes again. However, the Kapfenbergers then secured the 8:4 success in the final third and remain undefeated at the top of the table.

Eishockeyfans aufgepasst: EVERYTHING or NOTHING is now the motto for two extremely important home games on Saturday January 13th, 2024 against EV Zeltweg-Murtal Lions and on Saturday January 20th, 2024 against them UHT Dukes Graz in the Gmunden ice rink. The game starts as usual at 6:15 p.m. Also the supplementary game on January 17th, 2024 away against EV Zeltweg will be decisive in terms of direction. For promotion to the play off ÖEL these points are crucial. There is sure to be excitement at these ice hockey games and only a full hall can whip the Gmundner Haie to peak performance.
