The former Ecuadorian vice president has been convicted by his country’s justice system for two cases of corruption and was in prison between 2017 and 2022, when he was released.

Glas was sentenced in 2017 to six years in prison after the country’s justice system found him guilty of receiving bribes from the Brazilian construction company Ode-brecht in exchange for granting state contracts to the firm.

He was also sentenced in 2020 to eight years in a case in which Correa was also sentenced, for using money from contractors to finance electoral campaigns of the political movement of the left-wing former president.
