A strike by public transport workers blocked a number of provinces and cities in Germany today, DPA reported.
Local authorities reported that passengers in many German cities, among them Berlin and Hamburg they may face serious disruptions to bus, tram and subway schedules.
The protest was organized by the German trade union “Verdi”. It is expected to continue on Friday – March 1.
Among the German provinces covered by the strike are Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony-Anhalt.
The province of Bavaria, whose regional center is Munich, is not expected to be affected, according to the website of “Daily Sabah”.
The protesters are demanding an increase in their wages.
