The Islamic Association for Peace staged a protest in front of the Chinese Consulate in Salt Lake, Kolkata. They protested India’s exclusion of Arunachal Pradesh from the Chinese standard map and China’s allegations of oppression of the Uyghur Muslim community.
On Saturday morning (February 11), many gathered on the street opposite the Chinese consulate in Salt Lake carrying posters and banners from the Islamic Association for Peace.
Members of the Islamic Association for Peace from all Muslim communities staged a silent protest. Since this morning, the Chinese consulate was wrapped in tight security. Police from Bidhan Nagar Police Commissionerate were present to prevent any untoward situation.
However, the protesters made no attempt to go in front of the Chinese consulate. Their main demand was to exclude Arunachal Pradesh from the Chinese standard map and stop the persecution of the Uyghur Muslim community in China. They also demanded to boycott Chinese products.
Abdullah, a member of the Islamic Association for Peace, said, “I have come to peacefully protest the oppression of the Uighur Muslim community in China.” We are protesting in this peaceful position because people of all communities should live in peace in this world.
He also said that in China, people of the Muslim community are being brutally tortured. Mosques are being demolished in China. No one should be hurt by religion in China. Also in Arunachal Pradesh of India persecution of Chinese is increasing. In order to convey that message to the Chinese government, a peaceful protest was held in front of the Chinese Embassy in Salt Lake, Kolkata.
