SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, SLP (apro).– A young promoter of the campaign of the Morena candidate for mayor of San Vicente Tancualayab, municipality of the Huasteca Zone, was murdered on Tuesday when he was traveling in a vehicle presumably bound for his home.
A few hours before, presidential candidate Claudia Sheinbaum began a tour of this Huasteca Zone and led a rally in Ciudad Valle, just over 70 kilometers from San Vicente.
The murdered young man was identified as Rubén Martínez, 25 years old, promoter of the campaign of Josué Soni Cortés, mayor seeking reelection for Morena.
According to official data, the victim was traveling on Tuesday night in a truck on the San Vicente Tancualayab-El Higo state highway, near the Ejido El Álamo, when he was attacked by gunfire.
The candidate had reported a couple of days before the intentional burning of the vehicle of one of his promoters, for which he asked the INE to provide him with protection to carry out his campaign.
The State Attorney General’s Office confirmed the murder and reported that an investigation is being carried out.
Claudia Sheinbaum still carried out campaign activities in the Huasteca Zone this Wednesday. In the morning she offered a press conference in Ciudad Valles and later she led a rally in Tamazunchale.
