The seventh meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for the current financial year will be held on Tuesday (February 12). And this is going to be the first meeting of the new government elected in the 12th parliamentary elections. The government is going to approve 11 projects of various ministries and organizations in the first meeting. Apart from this, 20 projects are getting approval. In all, 31 projects will be raised in the first meeting.

Many meetings are being held with priority given to road infrastructure development, prepaid meters and sewerage systems across the country. Prior to this, the last Eknek meeting was held on November 9 last year. After the announcement of the schedule for the 12th parliamentary elections, no more Eknek meetings were held. Which was the 99th and last one of the previous government. In that meeting, 44 development projects with a total expenditure of 39 thousand 344 crores were approved.

According to Planning Commission sources, the seventh ECNEC meeting of the current financial year will be held at the NEC conference room in Sherbangla Nagar of the capital after about three months on February 13 at 10 am. It will be presided over by ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

According to commission sources, 31 development project proposals have already been finalized after screening to be presented at Eknek meeting for approval. Among them, 11 proposals for extension of tenure, amendment and new development projects of various ministries and departments. Apart from this, 20 project proposals approved by the Planning Minister will be notified to Eknek Sabha.

Most of the project proposals that will be presented for approval at the first meeting of the new government are from local government departments. A total of three project proposals will be presented in this department. Two of these are revised. They are – Installation of Chittagong City Sewage System, Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project and Development of Important Rural Infrastructure in Dhaka District.

Smart Pre-Payment Metering (II Phase) for West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (OZOPADICO) area of ​​Electricity Department, construction of new buildings of ACC Khulna, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet Divisional Offices and upward expansion and planning of Mymensingh Divisional Office proposed by Anti-Corruption Commission Department’s Urban Resilience Project (URP): Project Coordination and Monitoring Unit (PCMU) Fourth Revised Project. Besides, the proposal to extend the duration of the ongoing Secondary Education Sector Investment Program (CESIP) (Third Revised) project of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education will be presented for approval. Apart from this, 20 project proposals proposed by various ministries and departments approved by the Minister of Planning will be presented for information in the Eknek meeting. Among them, six projects are related to socio-economic infrastructure department, seven projects are related to physical infrastructure department, two projects are related to industry and energy department and five projects are related to agriculture, water resources and rural institutions department.
